Simplicity of Sales

A key to successfully sharing and selling a product, service or idea, is to ask questions and then listen quietly and carefully to the answers. Many of us try too hard to convince people to buy instead of discovering what our future customer or client really want’s, needs and desires from us.

Your role in the sales process is to present your product in a clear, concise and truthful manner—with integrity. The best customer is the customer who can make an educated decision based on what is best for them. A loyal customer is an educated customer. You are not in the convincing business; you are in the sharing business. Your job is to ethically offer the product, service or idea, explain the benefits and answer questions. Your customer or client will then make a buying decision based on the information they’ve been given. Making the sale is about asking questions, answering questions and building a trustworthy win-win relationship.

Here my 3 simple ways to hold and keep the attention of my customers.

1-Listen without an agenda, it’s not about your needs.

2-Don’t try to talk someone into something, listen to what they want.

3-Serve others by asking questions that will assist them in making a wise buying decision.

 

Sometimes, we are so excited to share everything we know about what we’re offering that we forget it is about your potential customer’s expectations. What is important to you may not be important to them. Accu-cut has taken these simple rules and applied them to our daily structure. Our carpet cutting machine can sell itself, but it’s the knowledge of the product and listening to the needs of our clients that have allowed us to be so successful.

We have a unique quality that has established our company and sent our sales off the chart. Watching the hard work turn in to a successful enterprise that will surpass to the next generation. Entrepreneur Scott Brockie worked from the bottom up, working long hours in a carpet store. He later moved on to creating, manufacturing and selling the Accu-Cut carpet cutting machine. He understands what it takes to run, and operate a successful business.

His ambitions and drive was passed down to his son Trevor Brockie, who in his own right has earned the Vice President title. Not only is he willing to stay late nights to tend to his consumers, but offers help via cellphone anytime. His customer service skills are immaculate and genuine, it takes this kind of dedication to stand out from other competitors.

He exudes confidence about the machinery that he promotes. Offering face time with his clients so they can see first hand how our machinery operates and functions. Answering and showing all the facts is his key strategy, when a machine is this good it will, has, and can sell itself. Quality products matched with outstanding customer service keeps your revenue flowing, and your local community standing by your side.

How many companies can get their staff to be truly invested in their ideas? The answer is very few. Most people look at their jobs as jobs; We create windows of opportunity and utilize the best traits of our employees. By hand

As we go about our day to day, do we look back to see how far we have advanced?  It almost seems like the Stone Age to think the carpet industry was born on its hands and knees. There is a lot of respect to be given to the companies that started out by doing everything by hand. As the years have gone by many have progressed, going from cutting on the floor to running large warehouses and increasing productivity.

How many companies make products that really hold up over the years? It’s easier to say it, than to experience it and depend on it daily. Accu-Cut is not the only company that makes great machinery, but we have proven to be the number one machine nationwide. Floor Covering Weekly just printed their “Top Fifty U.S. Specialty Flooring Retailers” Accu-Cut Machines are in Forty out of fifty of the top stores in the nation. Accu-Cut recognizes the needs of customers and offers aid and solutions around the clock. Accu-Cut is a family owned business that will be passed on to generation after generation, like the fine machinery they make.

 

I have had a chance to speak with many customers that have an Accu-Cut machine. I came across a business owner who has had his machine for over twenty years. Most people look at the machine and see wear and tear and are ready to upgrade or sell. This business owner wouldn’t not part with his machine, He didn’t care that his machine was aged he was most proud of the way it runs, just like when he first bought it. This is a rarity these days and makes Accu-Cut stand out more than any other carpet cutting machine.

One of my very first customers

I was driving in downtown Orlando a few days ago and drove by a warehouse that I could see rolls of carpet in from the road.
I popped in to see who they were and I saw the big sign up hanging that said “Cutting Edge Carpet”. I realized right away that this was one of my first customers that I sold a machine to about 12 years ago. I remembered the owner’s name. His name is Lance. I walked in and asked the warehouse man if Lance was available. I was pointed to Lance’s office. I walked in and spoke to Lance. What a great guy. I had spoken to him on the phone before but never in person. We sat and had a great chat for about 30 minutes. His carpet cutting machine is doing great and he was happy that I popped in. It is great to put a face to a name and it’s great to see customers face to face. I love travelling and seeing when people are happy with their carpet cutting machine. Until next time.

The number one carpet cutting machine in the world

We are the first carpet cutting machine manufacturer in the world. Our owner started out in 1985 selling carpet for a local carpet distributor in Winnipeg Canada. From there the owner went on to open a carpet store in Florida a few years later and then onto starting Accu-Cut. We now have our machines in thousands of stores all around the country. We are proud to have a welded machine that is very durable and long lasting. We are the only carpet cutting machine company to feature a self sharpening circular cutting system. The carpet cutting machine business is really starting to get busy

We are really starting to get busy this spring. Many carpet stores from around the country are seeing their business pick up. We haven’t heard a negative comment in quite a while. Our business is has picked up a lot. Many flooring companies are getting a lot of business from the builder segment of the business as building has been steadily getting busier the last 6 months. It was very quiet for quite some time. We are still staying very busy in the artificial turf market as well. The apartment/multi-family business has been busy for quite some time. We hope things keep very busy in the carpet cutting machine business but it definitely looks like it will be.

Carpet cutting machines and how they can save people time and money

It’s hard to believe that March is already upon us. It seems like just yesterday we were at Surfaces in Las Vegas.

The crowd at the show was great and it seems that almost everyone at the show had a positive attitude towards the economy and things getting better.

The carpet cutting machine business is interesting because it is a reflection of the housing market as well as the apartment flooring replacement business.

We definitely see that the apartment carpet replacement business has been very busy lately and there is definitely an uptick in the builder segment as well.

It seems like after the election many companies felt a lot more at ease about having that behind them and that they just wanted to look to the future.

Since 1990 we have been proud to build state of the art machines that last for many years with very little service.

We have a couple more flooring trade shows before the summer is upon us and we hope to see some of you at one of those upcoming shows.

Used carpet cutting machines

As we start a new year it seems that many carpet stores business is definitely picking up.  I think the worst is behind us and many stores are starting to invest in their businesses again.  It seems that used carpet cutting machines are very popular with companies small and large this year.  We have many used machines to choose from.  We have refurbished machines and used machines that are in great condition.  We refurbish the machines completely from top to bottom when we take them into our shop.  We even include a 6 month warranty with these machines.  Have a great year everyone!

Multi family flooring sector up for the 8th quarter in a row

Washington, DC, Sept. 7, 2012 — The Multifamily Production Index released by the National Association of Home Builders improved for the eighth consecutive quarter with an index level of 54. It is the highest reading since the second quarter of 2005.

The MPI, which measures builder and developer sentiment about current conditions in the apartment and condominium market on a scale of 0 to 100, rose from 51 in the first quarter to 54 in the second quarter.

The MPI provides a composite measure of three elements of the multifamily housing market: construction of low-rent units, market-rate rental units and “for-sale” units, or condominiums.

Any number over 50 indicates that more respondents report conditions are improving than report conditions are getting worse.

In the second quarter, the MPI component tracking builder and developer perceptions of market-rate rental properties recorded a level of 63 and has been over 60 for four consecutive quarters—the longest sustained period of strength since the inception of the index in 2003.

For-sale units had its highest reading since the fourth quarter of 2005, coming in at 41, while low-rent units recorded an all-time high of 61.

“The apartment and condo housing sector is continuing on a path of steady recovery as new construction has increased to try to keep up with current consumer demand,” said W. Dean Henry, CEO of Legacy Partners Residential in Foster City, Calif., and chairman of NAHB’s Multifamily Leadership Board.
“However, credit continues to be an issue for many developers around the country, making it difficult to keep pace with this demand.”

“The strength of the MPI suggests that multifamily production is likely to increase somewhat going forward,” said NAHB Chief Economist David Crowe. “Multifamily production has already recovered substantially from a historic low of about 110,000 starts a year in 2009 and 2010 to the current annual rate of a little over 200,000. However, prior to the downturn multifamily starts remained about 300,000 per year for 12 consecutive years, so there is room for further improvement before apartment and condo production return to normal, sustainable levels.”
